Unfortunately, I could not find how many negative ions per square inch were generated for the Higher Dose mat. Although there were some tests between The Higherdose infrared PEMF mat and the Healthy Wave 5 Therapy mat you can see here.
The Higherdose Infrared mat features more therapies and actually comes at a bit of a cheaper cost compared to the Healthy Wave 5 Therapy mat although it has a lot fewer PEMF options with very actual information on their PEMF stats.
When comparing it to the Healthy Wave Soft mat it features more crystals and the extra 2 therapies however the first number that jumped out at me is the 43 lb weight for Higher Dose. It is by far the heaviest mat on the list which will make more of a home mat with a lot less portability.
The warranty and return policies are also not as favorable with the Higherdose as you don’t get that 5-year controller warranty that you do with Healthy Wave. You also get the standard 30-day return policy instead of the 90 which is more of a reasonable time period to try out a mat.

My Personal Healthy Wave Soft Mat Review
Seeing as this is a portable model I got the 60 x 24 Soft mat to try out and test its portability. Off the bat, I knew that the Soft Mat wouldn’t be on the same level from a therapy selection level as the HW 5 therapy mat due to the lack of PEMF and Red Light therapy.
So this review will be more about my experience with the infrared heat and the portability of the mat.
However, what the Soft Mat does have going for it is that it’s more portable which means it won’t take up as much room in the trunk of my car or in storage. Especially compared to the bulkier 5 Therapy and Multi-Wave mats that I have.
This means I feel more comfortable placing it almost anywhere whether it’s just on top of me on the couch or sitting on the contours of the recliner. I don’t feel as comfortable doing this with the mats that have PEMF as you don’t want to bend the coils. The reason why the Infrared PEMF mats have 3 flat parts is to make sure the coils don’t bend.
With the Healthy Wave Soft Mat, I don’t have to worry bout this.
I like using the mat towards the end of the night as I find it helps relax my whole body which puts me in a nice relaxing state before going to bed.
I have been tracking my sleep with my Garmin watch and have seen the sleep score increase after using this mat at night. It usually hovers at around the 70’s – 80’s but after 45 minutes to an hour on this mat it goes into the 95-96 sleep score range which is a massive improvement.
There is a clear improvement in Duration, Stress and Awake/ Restlessness when using the mat.
The first few uses you may find yourself feeling a bit drowsy which is why I prefer to incorporate the mat towards the end of my day. But different people will react differently.
I like to set the mat to about 55 C (131 F). This is again personal preference. I have some friends that use it that like to crank the mat heat up to its maximum while other who just like to lie on it when its warm.
Typically Far Infrared Heat has been studied to work at its peak absorption at 45 C – 60 C (about 120 – 140 F).
I especially like to use this mat when I finish an evening workout and I want to relax some of the muscles. Sometimes I have lower back pain so this mat really helps as it eases those tense muscles and the deep penetrating Far Infrared heat allows more blood circulation to the area which eases the pain.
Now I’m not claiming that this will magically fix your back and that you will be performing swan dives off bridges like you did back in your teenage years. Proper back care involves learning the cause of the issue and making informed decisions by consulting professionals. What I will say about this though from my own experience is that this mat definitely helps with the sensations of discomfort in your lower back. Infact I leant this to my dad a few days ago and he seemed to agree that it helped ease some of the discomforts he was having with his back.
