Who Is the Healthy Wave High-Intensity Mat For?
The Healthy Wave High Intensity PEMF Mat is for folks who want their PEMF with higher Frequency levels. In contrast, it won’t have the same custom programmability as the Multi Wave or the user-friendly display of the Bemer. It does have its own unique set of capabilities.
The High Intensity mat has a peak gauss of 30+ from the 8 PEMF coils and an average surface (gauss measured throughout mat) of 7 throughout the mat. This is higher than both the Healthy Wave and the Bemer Pro mats Gauss rating which is 3 and .350 respectively.
This means you don’t need to spend so much time getting the PEMF treatment you want. However,, if you find that you are highly sensitive to EMF’s like I am, you may want to look at the Healthy Wave Multi Wave Mat to give you a more customized experience tailored to your PEMF therapy needs.
It is unique to other high-intensity PEMF mats because it also comes with 4 additional therapies that help complement its PEMF. Much like the Multi Wave and Pro 5 Therapy mats the 5 Therapy Mat features Far Infrared Heat, Red Light Therapy, Crystal, and Negative Ion therapies which can all work synergistically together with PEMF therapy.
The 4 pre-programs mix all of the above therapies depending on where you are in the day. Their programs revolve around sleep, relaxation, energize and recovery states. We will go into the exact stats and what therapies are used in what settings below.

While the High Intensity Mat may not have captured the top spot in best PEMF mats it makes a convincing argument to be the go-to choice for folks who want all 4 therapies mixed with high-intensity PEMF. It is also cheaper by $1000 when compared to the more programable Multi Wave mat when you compare both Pro versions which are the full-sized variations.
Below are some of the key PEMF stats to look at with the High Intensity Mat
- Frequency: 1-32 Hertz
- Wave Type: Bi Phasic Wave
- Intensity: Up to 30 Gauss
- Pre Programs: 3 revolving around sleep, relax, energize and recovery states
With the pre-program settings, you can simply set the controller to where you are in the day and the controller will program the best PEMF for that part of the day as well as what heat temperature is ideal. In the energize and recovery states there is also Red Light therapy that is added giving you 5 therapies at a simple push of a button.
This is a simple mat to program when choosing the settings compared to the Multi-Wave mat.

Price:
- The 74” X 28” High Intensity Mat – $1499 USD (comes with a case, padded cover, waterproof cover, sauna blanket foil and a PEMF visualizer which is two small magnetic balls in a case)
- The 72” X 24” High Intensity Mat – $1049 USD (comes with a case, padded cover, waterproof cover, sauna blanket foil and a PEMF visualizer which is two small magnetic balls in a case)
- High-Intensity Folding Chair – $599 USD (comes with a case, padded cover, waterproof cover, sauna blanket foil and a PEMF visualizer which is two small magnetic balls in a case)
- 5 Therapy High Intensity Pad – $499 USD (comes with a case, padded cover, waterproof cover, sauna blanket foil and a PEMF visualizer which is two small magnetic balls in a case)
The price for the high intensity PEMF mat is pretty good. Especially when compared to other devices such as the Bemer Pro which now goes for $829 for just the mat (no other accessories) alone.
The only downside is you don’t have as many mat varieties to choose from as you do with the 5 therapy mat and the Multi Wave mat.
What is the Difference between the Multi Wave’s PEMF and the High-Intensity Mat?
High Intensity Therapy Mat
- 7 Gauss Average to 30+ Peak Gauss Intensities
- 1 Wave Form (Bi-Phasic Wave)
- 1 Pulse Duration
- Pre Programs: 4
32 Frequency Settings (.25 – 32 Hertz)
Multi Wave Mat
- 25 Frequency Settings (1 – 25 Hertz)
- 5 Different PEMF Intensities: 0.3, 0.75, 1.5, 2.25 and 3 Gauss (6.5 Tested Peak Surface Intensity)
- 2 Different Waveforms (Sine and Square Waves)
- 3 Different Pulse Rates (Medium, Fast and Ultra Fast)
- 8 PEMF Coils
“The best way to think about this is that the Multi-Wave focuses on a wide low-mid range of PEMF Frequencies and Intensities that offer 313 billion PEMF combinations and possibilities while the High Intensity PEMF mat focuses on higher intensity PEMF that uses shorter sessions. "
Far Infrared PEMF Mat Review
There is a lot of debate in the PEMF community about High-Intensity PEMF. We have found some benefits to it as the below studies suggest:
- PEMF and Modulation of Osteogenesis in Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells (.9 Gauss, 7.5 Hz) (1)
- PEMF on osteogenesis and osseointegration of porous titanium implants in bone defect repair (20 Gauss, 15 Hz) (2)
- PEMF in oncology (1000 Gauss, 1 Hz) (3)
- PEMF on cancer cells and human lymphocytes (350 Gauss, 50 Hz) (4)
So if you feel high-intensity PEMF is for you and you want a set-it-and-forget-it type of controller at a reasonable price point this mat may be a good pick for you.
But if you are more sensitive and want to veer closer to Schumann’s Earth Resonance then the Multi Wave (if you have the budget for it) or the more simplistic Healthy Wave 5 Therapy Mat would be the best choice.

What is the Difference between Bemer's PEMF and the High-Intensity Mat?
*It should be noted that Bemer has recently released a new Evo Set. As of now, we are just comparing the Bemer Pro as this is the Bemer mat that we have the most data and experience with.
Therapies Available
HW High Intensity Mat
- Far infrared Heat
- Negative Ion Therapy
- PEMF Therapy
- Crystal Therapy
- Photon Light Therapy
Bemer Pro Mat
- PEMF Therapy
- Photon Light Therapy (Professional Set only)
While looking at this mat you may primarily be interested in high intensity PEMF it would be wise to look at other therapies available. As mentioned above these therapies work well together with PEMF to help increase the blood flow while PEMF seperates blood cells clumped together. We go over the full benefits of the other 4 therapies and how they relate to the Healthy Wave High Intensity Mat below.
The Bemer is undoubtedly more compact and easier to pack up which makes it easier to stash and stow away. The High Intensity mat’s 30 lb weight can be less travel-friendly. primarily due to the different kinds of crystals. so you have to weigh this as to how much compactness matters to you compared to number of therapies and price point you are getting.
If you compared the price point between the two you would see that the Healthy Wave High Intensity mat is almost $4,500 cheaper compared to the price point the Bemer Pro was recently at. Which is quite the difference in price tag.
PEMF Settings
Below is a comparison of the Bemer Pro’s and the Healthy Wave’s High Intensity Mat.
HW High Intensity Mat
- Frequency: 32 Frequency Settings from.25 – 32 Hertz
- Wave Type: Bi-Phasic
- Intensity: 1 Intensity (30 Gauss at Coils 7 Average Mat Surface
- Pre Programs: 4 (Sleep, Relax, Energize. Recovery)
- Custom Programming: 32 Frequency Settings available
Bemer Pro Mat
- Frequency: Bemer has 2 Frequency Settings at 10 and 33 Hertz
- Wave Type: Bemer Signal
- Intensity: 10 Settings to .350 Gauss
- Pulse Duration: 1
- Pre Programs: 3
- Custom Programming: 9 Available Slots where you can control the Intensity levels over a 20 minute window.
While both mats are labeled “high intensity” PEMF there are some differences between the two. When looking at the above comparison you can see that the High Intensity Mat offers more settings and customizability when it comes to the frequency settings.
One thing I will give Bemer is that it put a lot of money into scientific-based studies and from what we see the controller does exactly what it says. We also found that the Bemer Controller was more user-friendly due to its touchpad and its programming. However, it’s Frequency range is rather limited to the two ranges of 10 and 33 hertz which is a bit of a jump.
The Healthy Wave High Intensity mat offers 32 frequency settings that allows you to adjust and gradually increase your PEMF. This is especially important when dealing with those higher frequencies. More on the complete picture of the mats PEMF below.
Bemer does feature more intensity settings but it goes up to a maximum of .350 Gauss which is not exactly high intensity to begin with.
You can see the Bemer Pro Mat Review Here.
What is the Difference between Higher Dose's PEMF and the High-Intensity Mat?
HW High Intensity Therapy Mat
- 7 Gauss Average to 30+ Peak Gauss Intensities
- 1 Wave Form (Bi-Phasic Wave)
- 1 Pulse Duration
- Pre Programs: 4
32 Frequency Settings (.25 – 32 Hertz) - 8 PEMF Coils
Higher Dose Infrared PEMF Mat
- 4 Frequency Settings (3, 7.8, 10, 23 Hz)
- Tested 4.7 Gauss Peak Intensity
- 4 PEMF Coils
The below chart is a PEMF comparative 3-D field test that shows the coverage of PEMF on the surface of the mat.
Here’s where things get interesting. In the same comparative test, there was a 3-D test conducted on PEMF surface coverage from the mats surface and 3.5 inches up. As you can see this is where Mats that have 4 coils vs 8 have a clear disadvantage. The Multi Wave offers full coverage while the Higher Dose mostly has coverage in the top middle of the mat where the coils are.
Above is the same test but this time its PEMF distribution 5 inches and 10 inches away from the mat.

How the Healthy Wave High Intensity Mat Works
And now we will do a deep dive into how the Healthy Wave High Intensity Mat works and what all the numbers, stats, and therapies actually mean for you.
High Intensity PEMF Therapy
High-Intensity PEMF is something that is not made for everybody so it’s important to get clarity right away as to if high-intensity PEMF is for you.
High Intensity PEMF Therapy will not be for you if:
- You are highly sensitive to EMF’s (things like fluorescent lights etc)
- You are sensitive to supplements
- You are sensitive to other therapies
If you are unsure it’s important that you ask your doctor to get clarity on this.
If you do fall under this category the Healthy Wave 5 Therapy and Multi Wave mats will be the better choice as the 5 therapy mats emit PEMF closer to the Earths natural frequencies (Shumans Resonance) and the Multi Wave allows you to customize your PEMF exactly to your needs.
High-intensity PEMF has the distinct benefit of being able to work in a shorter period because you are getting a higher dose of PEMF. Compared to getting PEMF that is closer to Schumans Resonance which will take more sessions. On the flip side, PEMF that is closer to the Earth’s natural frequency is a more natural way to go if you have the time, and patience and are consistent with your PEMF sessions.
The High Intensity PEMF mat features 1 intensity which has a peak Gauss measured at 30+ over the coils. The Gauss level measured by a grid that spans the entire mat is 7. It’s important to note that the highest levels of PEMF will always be around the source which is the coils.
The High intensity mat uses a Bi-phasic wave form which is a longer drawn-out wave compared to something like the Sine wave. Lots are made about different waveforms but really the biggest things to look at are the intensity, frequency, and pulse duration of the device.
Perhaps this mat’s best feature is the higher frequency ratings which is part of the reason this is labeled a high Frequency PEMF mat. You have 32 Frequency settings to choose from (.25 to 32 Hz). Which gives you a bit more customization over what level of PEMF you would like.
Far Infrared Heat Therapy
Much like Healthy Wave’s other models, the High Intensity mat offers far infrared heat that penetrates past just the skin and into the other tissues. The vessel for this is the crystals that get heated up. As soon as the crystal layer in the mat is heated it produces negative ions which in part help de-cluster your cells and improve blood flow. It offers similar negative ion levels to if you were outside on a hike or a walk in nature which is really the environment where humans are designed to be in.
The Far Infrared heat penetrates 5-14 Um (4-8 inches) into tissues which creates a nice warm soothing sensation when lying on the mat. Far Infrared heat had several studies behind it as seen below:
- Improving the Condition of Patients with Cardiovascular Diseases (1)
- Improves cellular functions by stimulating cells and tissue (2)
- Helped Decrease Myofascial pain syndrome (muscle pain) (3)
- Improved the condition of patients with chronic pain (4)
- Significant clinical improvements of lower back pain (5)
- Inhibited the proliferation of cancer cells (6)
Negative Ion Therapy
Negative Ions are a byproduct of far infrared heat. Their purpose is to neutralize positive ions which causes cells to cluster together. Its within that that more serious symptoms start to develop. Negative ions help polarize each cell which helps them separate from each other and allows the cells to carry on with their day-to-day functions more optimally which helps increase blood flow.
The High-Intensity mat offers a Negative Ion count of 3000/ cc per minute thanks to how the layers of the mat are constructed. Many other far infrared mats do not have this feature on their mats.
Crystal Therapy
Different crystals are found to have different healing energies. And when they are heated up they allow the mat to give off far infrared heat and negative ions. Both of which are beneficial to our body.
The Healthy Wave High Intensity 5 Therapy mat offers 4 different crystals in it giving you different ranges of healing properties.
- 13 Lbs Crushed Amythest Crystal: The crystal has properties that are associated with deep relaxation. Its also a rather conductive stone that offers a negative ion output of 1500 per cubic centimeter.
- 5 lbs Jade Crystal: Jade is a stone associated with compassion and can be used as a negative ion generator both heated or cool. It offers a negative ion output of 700 per cubic centimeter.
- 5 Lbs Tourmaline Crystal: Known as a grounding stone Tourmaline is perhaps the best negative ion conductor as it can produce 1500 per cubic centimeter when heated.
- 1 lb Crushed Obsedian: Known as a the protective stone Obsedian goes very well with the other crystals as it promotes the removal of negative energy.
Red Light Therapy
On top of all of this, the HW High Intensity Mat also offers Red Light Therapy. The mat is lined up with 144 lights that are powered at 633 nm. Red Light or “Lower Level Light” therapy mimics the sun’s energy that allows your cells to absorb photons which they need to be operating correctly. Studies have shown that Red Light Therapy is most effective in the 633nm and 830nm range.
Red Light Therapy is best used when applied directly to the skin and loses effectiveness when clothes or material is in between. The Red Lights are also part of one of the pre-programs for Regeneration and Energize

The controller is straightforward to use and in our opinion, is more user-friendly from a complexity point of view compared to the other PEMF Mats on this list. Just press the buttons and set your frequencies or pre-programs and you are ready to go!
There are 4 main buttons that control the setting:
- Temperature: Simply press and control the temperature with the plus and minus settings next to it
- Time: You can set the time for time increments of 1-59 minutes or anywhere from 1-12 hours for temperature, 1-9 hours for Red Light Therapy.
- PEMF: The PEMF button controls the frequency you want to set your PEMF mat to. You can do this with the plus and minus buttons to the right.
- Photon: Turns the Red Light Therapy on and off
To make it easier for you the Controller offers 4 pre-programs that activate with the touch of a button. This will help you match the stage of your day. As you can see below:
Program | Mode | Temperature | Red Light Therapy | PEMF Setting | Timer |
M1 | Sleep | 86°F (30°C) | Off | 3 Hz | 12 Hours |
M2 | Relax | 110°F (43°C) | Off | 8 Hz | 2 Hours |
M3 | Energize | 130°F (54.4°C) | 30 Mins | 12 Hz | 1 Hour |
M4 | Recovery | 140°F (60°C) | 1 Hour | 20 Hz | 1 Hour |
As you can notice in the above chart anything that has to do with sleep or relaxation offers a lower frequency PEMF. Anything that requires or is after exercise requires high bouts of Frequency.
Healthy Wave Certifications
To ensure that this High Intensity 5 Therapy Mat is safe to use the mat is registered by the FDA as a level 2 Medical Device which falls under “General Controls and Special Controls”.
The FDA provides levels that are categorized by risk so level 2 would be considered intermediate. Thankfully this Mat has received this designation and is approved to be sold to the general public.
If you are unsure if High Intensity PEMF is right for you be sure to consult a medical consultant first!
All controllers for Healthy Wave mats are also CE & FCC certified.
Warranties and Guarantees
The High Intensity Mat Comes with a 15-month full warranty against manufacturing defects as well as a 5-year limited warranty. This is all for manufacturing defects and does not cover misuse or damage from the external environment. So what does this all mean and why are there two different types of warranties?
The 15 month warranty will give you full coverage of a free replacement including free shipment for said replacement and no restocking fees. Which in itself is rare to find, even in the online retail space.
After this full warranty period (in this case after 15 months) you have to pay for the shipping charges both ways as well as a deductible depending on what year it is in the warranty. In year 2 you have to pay a 10% deductible of the full purchase price. Year 3 is 20%, and years 4 and 5 are 30% deductibles.
There is a full 5 year warranty on the controller as well for manufacturing defects.
On top of this you also get a full 90-day “Trial Period” which means you have 90 days to decide if the mat is right for you otherwise you can return it as long as its in like new condition. The refunds do not cover shipping as that would be your responsibility.
Shipping
Healthy Wave provides free shipping to customers in the continental United States. Outside of the continental United States shipping is subsidized and charged the lowest shipping price. If you are in Europe or outside North America you may be charged duties or other unforeseen charges that you will ultimately be responsible for.
Orders are usually shipped within 24 hours of purchase.
Is The Healthy Wave High Intensity Mat For You?
The Healthy Wave High Intensity Mat is a fantastic mat that comes at the fraction of the price of other well-known brands of PEMF mats. Better still it also provides 4 other therapies such as Far Infrared heat, PEMF, Red Light and Crystal therapies. This gives you a complete healing package that acts synergistically.
High Intensity PEMF is great for people who want shorter treatment times compared to lower-intensity PEMF but it’s not for everyone.
Overall for the price point you won’t find a High Intensity PEMF mat that will offer more value than the High Intensity mat.
